ABOUT US

In 1997, Matt Stoffel graduated from Universal Technical Institute in Phoenix, Az with a degree in automotive repair. After graduation, Matt worked for Dan Wiebold Ford primarily on Diesel pickups and fleet vehicles. In 1998, Matt’s father bought a boat hull from Double Barrel Marine in Marsing, ID. With the help of his little brother Justin, built a 21’ Outlaw that started life with a 350 and a Berkley. Matt wrecked the boat on their first trip into Hells Canyon which resulted in a new 3 stage pump. Not long later, the 350 was swapped out for a Ford Triton V-10. The boat ran much better and burned less fuel than the 350, but was very experimental and always had some issue pop up. Matt bought that boat after his father bought a 23’ Precision Weld that was unfinished in 2005. Matt helped his father finish the boat and from there started getting a reputation as the go to guy from friends who needed help fixing jet boats. Before long, an evening hobby fixing boats became a full-time job and business. With the help and support of his father and grandfather, Matt was able to get into a shop in Nampa. In 2008, Inland Marine and Restoration was a full-service jet boat repair shop. Today, the name has been restructured to be Inland Marine of Idaho Inc.

Since that time many repairs, engine rebuilds, pump replacements and full on restorations have come and gone. The shop continues to grow and develop. “If it’s an aluminum welded river boat we can fix it,” has echoed through the shop almost as many times as “we don’t work on plastic boats or egg beaters”.

With the closure of a local boat builder that left many would be owners with half-finished boats, the shop was called on to complete unfinished projects. Time and time again, boats that had been half built emerged as beautiful completed boats exceeding the owners’ expectations. With attention to detail and commitment to being the best product on the market, some of those who brought their unfinished boats to Inland Marine commented on how the boat they received was better than the one they would have received originally. Inland Marine has finished more of these boats than any other shop and each one had turned out better than expected.

Building boats for friends has opened our eyes to the growing need for high quality boat manufacturing in the Boise valley. It has become the new aim to add boat manufacturing to our list of services. Inland Marine of Idaho Inc is laser focused on becoming the premier boat manufacturer of Southern Idaho.

Matt Stoffel, owner of Inland Marine of Idaho Inc, has four wonderful boys and a beautiful wife. Hunting in the back country with his horses and family, fishing, traveling and exploring new places and rivers are what drive Inland Marine of Idaho for success and the highest level of work and craftsmanship.
